When I first heard a handpan in a small town a few years ago, I was completely enchanted by its sound. After the artist finished playing, I approached him, introduced myself, thanked him, and asked if I could try. He kindly agreed, and I improvised for a couple of minutes. Something faintly resembling a piece was born then — and the memory stayed with me ever since.
Years later, I found myself regularly listening to handpan music on YouTube, slowly growing more and more curious about this magical new-age instrument.
One summer day, the idea matured — and I placed my order. Then came the days of learning and composing. It’s not a difficult instrument to start playing, but to make it sing with its full voice requires some time, feel, and finesse.
Today, I want to share with you my very first handpan composition. A couple more are on the way 🙂
I hope you enjoy it — and thank you for listening.
