Reflections on Tartu Summer Guitar Camp and Guitar Festival 2024

I recently had the pleasant opportunity to participate in the Tartu Summer Guitar Camp and Guitar Festival 2024, and it was a memorable experience. Held in the picturesque city of Tartu, Estonia, this event brought together passionate students, dedicated teachers, and enthusiastic organizers for several days of music, learning, and collaboration.

One of the highlights for me was witnessing another premiere of my compositions “Fears and Dreams” and “A Dance of Life” (both for guitar ensemble, minimum 4 guitars: the first piece inspired by the paintings of Carl-W. Röhrig and consisted of the Prelude, Pagan Ritual (“A Solar Eclipse”) and Hot Air Balloons, the 2nd based on the materials I studied about Middle African traditional music), which was met with great enthusiasm and appreciation from the audience in Tubina saal (Tubin Concert Hall). It was truly rewarding to see my musical ideas come to life on stage, thanks in no small part to the talented students and their conductor.

It was wonderful to work alongside teacher and conductor Priit Peterson, whose guidance and experience enriched the learning environment and helped all of the players to grow as musicians.

Organizer Peep Peterson deserves special thanks for putting together such an inspiring event.

Beyond the rehearsals and performances, the atmosphere at the camp was supportive and encouraging. It was a joy to connect with fellow musicians, exchange ideas, and forge new friendships. The sense of community and camaraderie among participants made the entire experience even more fulfilling.

In conclusion, the Tartu Summer Guitar Camp and Guitar Festival 2024 exceeded my expectations in every way. It was a privilege to be part of such a vibrant musical community and to share my passion for music with others who feel equally passionate. I look forward to future editions of this festival.

Thank you to everyone involved for making this event unforgettable. Until next time, keep the music playing! 🙂
