“Fears and Dreams” is a journey through sound, inspired by the evocative and surreal paintings of Carl-W. Röhrig.

This piece for guitar orchestra is designed as a triptych, moving through three interconnected landscapes of the human psyche: the Prelude, Pagan Ritual (“A Solar Eclipse”), and Hot Air Balloons.

Each movement paints its own sonic portrait, inviting the listener to confront their inner fears, embrace their dreams, and explore the boundless realms of imagination. Music is more than just sound – it’s a gateway to limitless freedom and creativity. In this piece, music becomes a bridge to a space where we can rise above our fears and limitations, where dreams soar even when reality holds us back. “Fears and Dreams” encourages the listener to explore that inner realm, where vulnerability and courage coexist, inspiring us to reach for the seemingly impossible. The Prelude opens the piece, a quiet breath before the plunge, setting the stage with a sense of anticipation. Then, in Pagan Ritual (“A Solar Eclipse”), we enter a dark and haunting world, where primal fears awaken under the shadow of the eclipse. This movement mirrors the powerful, ancient rituals once used to confront and overcome the unknown, reminding us of humanity’s age-old struggle to find light in darkness. Finally, the journey lifts into the whimsical and ethereal with Hot Air Balloons. This movement is a personal exploration of my own dream of flight – to rise up into the clouds, to experience a freedom that defies gravity. Though a fear of heights may keep me earthbound, music offers an escape. Through these melodies, one can float fearlessly, embracing the sensation of being weightless, untethered, and completely free. In this music, I invite listeners to join me in a flight of the spirit, where limitations fall away and only the dream remains.

Ultimately, “Fears and Dreams” is an invitation: to confront our shadows, to celebrate our dreams, and to experience the transformative power of music as a realm where our deepest fears are met with boundless possibility. Thank you to everyone involved for making this event unforgettable. Until next time, keep the music playing!
